No stearic acid is used in my production at time of hand-making creating that 'smit' perfect white or gloss candle. Sanso Cellular Candles are colour free due to the studies of carcinogenic. I do not use lead-based wicks or wood wicks being a lacquered varnish wood with possible harmful respiratory sensitivity, as the wood crackles when flamed, like paraffin petroleum wax, and the 'black" affect at time of burning.
